Meals on Wheels
This service is available to people living within Windsor, Old Windsor and most parts of Datchet. It runs Tuesday through Friday and delivers a hot two course meal to people. Meals will be delivered 12:00-13:00 depending on where you are on the route. This will largely be the same time each day however routes do change which means we cannot guarantee a specific time for delivery.
We have a set rolling menu with a roast dinner each week. We will take time when setting the service up to make sure that we can provide a meal that you will enjoy eating. This enables us to manage our food more easily and keep the costs down. We can accommodate most dietary requirements and vegetarian options. At present we cannot produce Vegan meals and cannot source Halal meat.
The menus include a variety of dishes with old favourites such as:
Mains:- Toad in the hole, cottage pie, Chicken and bacon pie.
Desserts:- Apple Crumble, Lemon Meringue Pie, Chocolate Marble cake and custard.
All meals can be tailored to accommodate specific medical/ medication needs such as the omission of particular vegetables or meat, allergens.
We ask that people sign up to receiving meals every week but this can be just one day a week. There is no contract and to cancel you give us a call the day before you wish to stop. Please note that to cancel a meal on a Tuesday you would need to call the Friday before.
The cost of a meal is £8.
For those on income or disability Benefits we offer a discount to £6 per meal.
Qualifying Benefits: Pension Credit, Income Support, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Employment and Support Allowance (Income based), Job Seekers (Income based), Carers Allowance- for the named people (i.e. the carer and cared for), Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance.
To qualify we will require proof of your current entitlement to the benefit, either as a copy of the letter or emailed photo. We must be able to clearly see you name, the date of the letter, the stated entitlement and for what period it has been granted.
