Mission Statement
“To promote the well being of all older people and help make life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience”
In 1998, thanks to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, we were given a permanent home at The Spencer Denney Centre in Park Corner, formerly a workshop for older people.
In 2001, we became part of the federation of Age Concern England, and changed our name to Age Concern Dedworth Windsor. Since being at the Spencer Denney Centre and working with the local community, we have developed and expanded the Centre’s activities. To reflect this we became Age Concern Windsor in 2003.
In 2012/13, when Age Concern UK and Help the Aged merged, we decided not to became a full member of Age UK but remain an independent local charity. We did not sever all ties with the newly formed National Charity however and signed a ‘friends’ agreement. In March 2018 we re-registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisations to enable us to hold contracts.
We have continued to develop and expand our services to meet the needs of the area including the introduction of Meals on Wheels and Befriending in April 2020 to help support older people during the repeated lock down measures that occurred throughout the remainder of 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-29 Pandemic.
Safeguarding is a fundamental part of Age Concern Windsor’s work and we are committed to providing services, which embrace diversity and that promote equality of opportunity. Everyone who accesses our services or works for us in a paid or voluntary capacity should be safe, empowered to play a part in promoting their own welfare and that of others and able to live a life free from abuse.
